Vehicle Excise Duty (VED) Changes 

VED Reminder. All vehicles registered after 1st April 2017 are subject to a significant increase in first year tax - a flat rate of £140 applies each year. Those purchasing an alternative fuel vehicle, for example hybrids, will pay £10 less in the first year of tax and then £130 per annum after that. Additionally, there is a five year supplement for vehicles which cost over £40,000, at a premium of £310, regardless of their emissions. 

It is important to note that the final list price of your vehicle which determines if it is over £40,000. This is taking into account all options that are added on, which often take the price of a vehicle over this threshold. If this is the case, you will still have to pay the premium.
